Celee Evans Porcelain: Seminars
"Your Place or Mine"

CELEE'S SIERRA SEMINARS

Celee Evans Porcelain Painting Seminars
A fancy lemonade pitcher was a popular subject in Celee’s very first Sierra Seminar
(just two sessions offered in 2001)

Celee Evans Porcelain Painting Seminars
The Belle of Portugal with Snowballs plate from 2001 was brought back by popular demand in 2002
(three sessions offered in 2002)

Wild Roses with Honeysuckle on a fancy pitcher was such a popular subject in Celee's 2005 Sierra Seminar, she taught it three years in a row!

Early Fire of Pitcher

Pitcher received its own "Gold Crown" for 2007, using embossing and agate etching to "find" 24 additional "Gold" Honeysuckle blossoms and a tint in Cool Shadow, Chartreuse and Tan. New study is available under "Studies."

Presentation Centerpiece Bowl
Snow Parrot Tulips, Plums & Cherries

Not quite large enough to be a true punch bowl but soo small for a generic bowl, this rimmed Presentation Centerpiece has it all!! Whether empty or filled with your favorite celebratory beverage, it is definitely "filled" with beautiful combinations that change and inspire you all the way around the bowl as you turn it!

This shows one view of the shadow work carved inside the bowl, including plums and cherries, as well as leaves and stems.

Another panel of tulips and cherries on the outside of the bowl is not pictured here but is included in the complete study coming out April 15, 2008.

Whether you study with Celee in your hometown, at one of the schools across the country, or you join her in her beautiful studio location near Yosemite, it will be a wonderful experience. Learn not only actual florals, fruit or scenes but plenty of design ideas as well. Celee helps your own style to flourish as you paint in a relaxed but challenging environment. Celee prefers teaching in her own studio, but is available for out of the area seminars on a limited basis. Contact Celee to set up your own seminar OR reserve a seat in one of her annual Sierra Seminar sessions, like the three below that were offered in 2006.

SESSION 1: TALL, BORDERED 11 ½” VASE
April 22-25 (Sat. thru Tues.)

Subject: Old-fashioned “white” violets (shade with your choice, from greens to purples) loosely grouped on front and back, enhanced by oval cartouches in penwork scrolling, mother of pearl, ‘namel and optional gold.

SESSION 2: LARGE, OPEN 10” JARDINIERE WITH PEDESTAL
May 5-8 (Fri. thru Mon.)

Subject: This round jardinière, seen below, is encircled with wisteria ranging from white and green to deep blue, pinks and purples. An optional gold border and band of carved shadows on the footed pedestal give it a regal touch.

SESSION 3: FANCY, FOOTED 14 ¼” PITCHER/TANKARD
May 10-13 (Wed. thru Sat.)

Subject: Pink, burgundy, lavender and white wild roses gently tangle with buttery yellow honeysuckle all around this exquisite piece, crowned with lots of shadow shapes.

Please call Celee at (209) 966-8361 for more  information and  to secure a seat in the session of your choice.  E-mail or snail mail is not recommended since sessions fill quickly and you need up-to-date numbers on the enrollment.

SIERRA SEMINARS AT CELEE'S CREEKSIDE STUDIO

Join Celee each Spring for a memorable four-day seminar. With her studio tucked in the Sierra mountain community of Mariposa, California, near Yosemite National Park, you can't help but feel inspired. Park your RV near our creek and watch our many deer or stay in a modest, new motel or private residence nearby. The refinement of the porcelain pieces you'll paint will contrast with the casual learning environment she's created in her studio and home. Bird lovers can even get to know Bryce's parrots on a first name basis at lunch!

Information about Sierra Seminars is mailed out each January for that spring. To have the details e-mailed to you, send us your name and e-mail address, or even send us your snail mail address.

Ready for a “tea” break in the studio; See “Lilacs/Agate Etched Gold Tea Set” at www.celee.com.
(the dark-haired, crowned girl was very shy!)

Multi-colored Peonies on a tray are either too easy or too challenging to keep some students awake! (sorry Jennie!)

One student got more than she bargained for: she went home with her Pears and Lilacs Vase, made a decision to sell her San Francisco area home and move near Mariposa, fell in love with and took home one of Bryce’s hand fed macaws (shown here with us on the ramp into the studio), and a year later met Mr. Right (up here) and got married! Now that’s what Celee calls a very successful seminar! (results are not typical!)

We slipped away for Celee’s demo at a church during our Gilded Gold French Vanity Set seminar, wearing every china painter’s version of a hat . . . crowns, of course!

Students from Oregon and Oklahoma joined California china painters along with Celee’s husband Bryce for the Early Bird Special at Crab Cakes Restaurant one evening.

I won’t say that “a table creek side” is that hard to come by here, but in some seminars, we spy the deer heading for the bridge, and scramble to finish a first fire so we can beat them out for our favorite spot for lunch!

Some students are lucky enough to get “Private Lessons”

Poor “Pickle” (Kilauea aka: Killer, Killer Diller, Dill Pickle) is still working on his delphinium and Bells of Ireland masterpiece… What a perfectionist!  He says “If I can learn, you can too.”

Although Bryce doesn’t offer Private Lessons, his classes seem to always fill!
